Welcome to Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Gurdaspur
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Gurdaspur was established in August, 1982 to cater to the training needs of three districts of the Punjab viz. Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur under the guidance of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana with the perspective plan of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. With the establishment of KVK in Hoshiarpur and Amritsar districts, this Kendra is now looking after the training needs of the farmers of Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gurdaspur, has adopted on campus as well as off campus transfer of technology programmes and other specialized approaches to disseminate the technical information and ultimately to improve the income status of farming community. Highly qualified faculty and training units like Dairy unit, Mushroom unit, Bee-keeping unit, Agri. engineering unit and seed farm of 25 acres at KVK helps to provide technical information and practical orientation to the training programmes. So, this KVK has been serving as power house for need based technology transfer to the farmers particularly in the light of changing agricultural scenario of the country. KVK also implements all the interim projects & periodical guidelines issued by the ICAR & PAU, Ludhiana and reorient its action plan accordingly.
Theme of KVK, Gurdaspur
“Let us all work towards putting the seed of thought in the mind of our farming community so that they can reap the harvest of motivation to adopt the latest technology in agriculture and allied activities. Once this becomes a part of their habit, nothing can stop them from reaping a destiny”.
